Compost Loos
Our current sewage systems are failing. The majority of Britains waterways are heavily polluted, with private water companies responsible for direct sewage discharge and overflows. Additionally most of the large scale sewage treatment plants use carbon intensive methods to treat the water. If you’ve got the space it might be worth considering alternatives. Heres a few links to some systems that I think are good.
Natsol Compost Loos, Stainless steel toilets with urine separation. Separating urine from faeces helps to make these toilets efficient and without smells. Try one for yourself in the Isabella Plantation, Richmond Park.
Jay Abrahams - Biologic Design. After a long stint working for in the sewage treatment industries, Jay set up his own company designing natural low impact wetlands for sewage treatment. He uses a variety of plants (including 47 different species of willow) and a series of ponds or lakes to treat toxic water, with the added benefit of creating beautiful habitats.
